This role is chiefly one of encouragement and relationship. Each age group of approximately 12 athletes is assigned a leader who checks them in and takes them around their stations, getting to know their names and supporting and encouraging them through-out the season.
As athletics is an individual sport, the group leader is an integral part of helping make sure no athletes misses out on being encouraged and known within the community.
Each week you choose and athlete of the week from your group, and hand out their certificate.
You may be asked to step in to support the station/event leader where needed, under their guidance.
The role may involve recording the athletes’ achievements when measured.

These are for ages 5yrs -9yrs. Every week each group rotates around 3-4 stations that are a variety of running, jumping and throwing activities. The Station leader is supplied with an event card and clear instructions on the activity and how to run it.
The Station Leader doesn’t need any prior athletics knowledge or experience, just a positive attitude and some energy and enthusiasm.
The station cards are clear, some come with videos and you receive these well in advance to give you time to become familiar with them.
The activities are all based on running, jumping and throwing skills in a game-based format to allow children repetition to learn.
Some stations require two people to run, one as the leader, the other as a support role, this might be for example racking a sand pit or retrieving throwing implements.

This is an overseer and support role for each cluster of age group stations, making sure volunteers feel supported and resourced.
With a large number of young athletes on our field at the same time, across more than 15 different stations, we require a few volunteers to float and be available to support the stations as needed.
This role is to help our volunteers feel equipped and resourced each week as they deliver the activities. Helping with any issues or questions that may arise.
We will provide some on-line training and support for this role, in how to deliver a successful children’s athletics program.
Knowledge you can use to then support the volunteers under your leadership.
We require 1 or 2 for the 5-6yrs stations, 1 or 2 for the 7-9yrs stations and 1 or 2 for the 10+ stations.

are a good fit for them.
Yes, please enquire about how you can be involved.
We understand that volunteering isn’t always possible for some families, and don’t want any children to miss out on the opportunity to participate. We can accommodate a small number of families who cannot support the club with a volunteer on the roster.
We only charge $35 per member over the ANZ and CA fees, which only cover the basic operational costs of the club. This helps to remove financial barriers to participation, but also means that we rely on volunteers to deliver the main club programs.
We have developed a support program for our volunteers, which includes some on-site training and also online training that can be done in your own time. Our club leaders are always here to help!
We request that you arrange your own roster swap whenever possible.
Volunteering can be with your child’s group, or you can be on a roster, so you don’t miss out on seeing them enjoy the program.
